Everton Linked with Leicester City Midfielder Wilfried Ndidi

Wilfried Ndidi

Everton have emerged as surprise contenders for Leicester City’s defensive midfielder Wilfried Ndidi, according to multiple reports. Sources including Sports Mole and The Hard Tackle claim the 28-year-old Nigerian is “on the radar” of Everton’s summer recruitment drive. Ndidi can leave Leicester for just £9 million thanks to a relegation release clause in his contract. That bargain fee has reportedly drawn Everton’s attention alongside interest from Manchester United and Saudi club Al-Hilal.
Ndidi is an established Premier League player with extensive experience. Since joining Leicester from Belgian side Genk in January 2017, he has made 303 appearances for the Foxes. The midfielder featured 28 times in the Premier League last season and helped Leicester win the FA Cup in 2021. A two-time Nigeria international, Ndidi is known for his combative defensive play and work-rate, traits that would address Everton’s need for experience in central midfield.
Reports indicate that Everton’s interest in Ndidi is serious. Sports outlets say manager David Moyes and his recruitment team have identified Ndidi as a potential bargain signing to bolster Everton’s engine room. The club’s new ownership is expected to spend heavily this summer to strengthen the squad, and Ndidi’s availability for £9m makes him an attractive target. Even amid interest from larger clubs, Everton believe Ndidi would significantly improve their midfield quality if they can secure the deal.
Everton are reportedly preparing to make a move in the opening days of the transfer window. If Ndidi stays fit and maintains his form for Leicester, the Toffees could attempt to formalize their interest soon. In the meantime, fans and pundits will be watching to see whether Everton indeed capitalize on Ndidi’s release clause opportunity to land what many view as a shrewd summer acquisition.
