Rasmus Højlund: A Transfer Target for the Summer

Rasmus Højlund

Juventus and Manchester United are said to be negotiating for Rasmus Højlund's future. After his expensive move to Old Trafford from Atalanta a couple of years ago, the young striker might soon be heading back to Serie A. Here's the latest for the young star:

Man Utd Would Sell Højlund

The Red Devils would sell the 22-year-old striker who has not quite fulfilled expectations for what is said to be a £72 million move. A promising start in Italy, the Danish striker has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League: just four goals thus far in 29 league appearances this season. The underperformance has triggered thoughts of different options up front from manager Ruben Amorim, and if a good offer comes through, United may even let go of their challenge.

Juventus Is Thinking of Making Højlund Their Lead Striker
In contrast, for Juventus, the struggling striker represents an opportunity. The Bianconeri are desperate to reinvigorate their line of attack, which has lacked consistency this season. For all his woes in England, Højlund still presents a tempting prospect for the Italian outfit, with whom he could possibly be a long-term fix for their attacking woes.

Juventus have placed him atop their reinforcements list, believing that a return to Serie A could be the fresh start he needs to regain top form.

A Price Tag to Match the Potential

Despite mixed performances at Man United, Højlund is worth hefty money. Red Devils have paid a big sum for the striker and are obviously not going to take a hit. As United tries to raise funds for other potential signings, including that of Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres, Juventus will have to negotiate cleverly to come up with a deal worth both sides.

Other Strikers in the Eyes of Juventus

While Højlund remains the number 1 target in their plans, Juventus could look back at the Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee. The club had previously tried to lure the 22-year-old away from Bayern Munich, and there were whispers of a verbal agreement with his agent. But with things shaking up at Manchester United following the arrival of Amorim, Zirkzee may end up heading nowhere after all. Should their shot at Højlund prove unsuccessful, Juventus could well try their luck with him.
Potential Departures from Juventus
In order to make room for a potential signing, Juventus might have to breeze one or two current strikers out of the door. Dusan Vlahović has been heavily speculated over with respect to his future with the club, and there's also uncertainty regarding Randal Kolo Muani, who might not be a long-term stay at the Allianz Stadium. Juventus would probably get into trimming their squad to pay for the incomings.
